One of the more important conversations taking place at Aye Finance lately has been about our employees finding the right balance between work and home.
As an organization, we firmly believe that employee wellness and happiness levels should be prioritized because happy employees are crucial for creating strong companies with a driven and productive workforce.
Although employee wellness is an institutionalized value at Aye Finance, we wanted to move the conversation out from behind-the-scenes to take center stage through our social media channels on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Moreover, since all our employees are active on both these platforms, connecting with them through social media was a good alternative to our formal communication channels already in place.
And so, we devised #KaamSeCalmTak – a digital-only campaign to promote holistic wellness amongst employees.
Campaign Structure and Communication
Beginning on Monday, September 3rd, 2018, the #KaamSeCalmTak campaign was scheduled to run for a 5-week period, and covered different aspects and elements of a balanced life, such as:
- The importance of exercise
- Using personal time for productive activities
- Spending quality time with family
- How to learn more about your own city, and
- The benefits of taking annual leave
The objective here was to emphasise how important it is for people to unplug from work and utilise their personal time in way that allowed them to focus on the other critical components of their lives.
Additionally, we also wanted to achieve the following objectives through #KaamSeCalmTak:
- We wanted to ensure that our employees at our branch offices across the country could connect and engage with the messaging, and
- We also wanted to highlight the stories of the high-performing employees at our branches and showcase their skills with living a balanced life
Between September to October, we shared weekly messages through Facebook and LinkedIn, starting the narrative at the importance of exercise and ending it at the benefits of taking annual leave.
Each week, the messages we shared were combined with the specific benefits of of those particular activities and how they could contribute to an employee’s overall well-being, and consequently, work productivity.
Driving Employee Engagement
The #KaamSeCalmTak conversation on LinkedIn and Facebook also allowed us to connect directly with our employees.
Through these posts, we saw an increased level of engagement come in on our posts – especially on Facebook – with our employees sharing personal stories of the steps they take to establish a work-life balance for themselves.
As a company, we also learned a lot more about our employees, their personal interests, their varied personalities, and what matters most to them when they come to work every day.
For instance, we now know that playing cricket, meditating, and spending time with families are favourite ways to unplug and unwind after working hard all week.
And perhaps the most heartwarming result of running the campaign was the internal feedback we’ve heard about Aye Finance and the company leadership.
Mohd. Akil, the Branch Manager at one of our largest branches in Meerut, heads a team of 29 people and has been with Aye Finance for nearly 4 years. According to Akil, his work performance and his personal life are closely tied together, and happiness at both ends begins with his work relationships.
“We can approach our seniors whenever we want” says Akil. “And we have the room to develop strong relationships with our teams.”
What’s Next for #KaamSeCalmTak
Because of the campaign’s success, and the team’s penchant to share personal stories, we’ve decided to turn #KaamSeCalmTak into a long-term campaign. We look forward to sharing more stories of our employees’ personal and professional growth, their personal passions driving their work performance, and the balance they’re able to strike between the two.
